groundhogchase.com

Tuesday, January 18th, 2005

I caught this as a tv commercial as I was making my daughter breakfast this morning.

I love it. Done in the style of the Beastie Boys Sabotage music video, groundhogchase.com has got to be the funniest thing that was EVER paid for by my PA tax dollars.

Washington DC’s WHFS goes from alt rock to Spanish language radio

This is truly a sad monent in radio history. I spent many a summer night when I was a teen listening to WHFS on my walkman at my parents’ summer house in Maryland. (I mean what other radio station was playing Echo and the Bunnymen and Siouxsie and the Banshees?)

Microsoft Anti-Spyware

Thursday, January 13th, 2005

Not too long ago, I installed the Microsoft anti-spyware beta for giggles and while no spyware was found on my system (I usually use Firefox), I was damn surprised to discover that one of the components specifically gcasDtServ.exe, uses a whopping 9k of RAM. I like to run my machine lean and mean, and damn, that’s a bit much to have running in the background continually.
