snow day of sorts

Posted by joy

Typing this on the cell phone as the power is out at home and at work. So yeah. Lots of places without power, ran into a few impromptu four way intersections, people trying to find ice, hoping that something can be saved from the fridge.

Update: There is power at home now.

Power is such a great thing…keeps my beer cool….mmm, beer.

Actually, having been in too many of those ‘Power is out’ situations, I don’t mind the instant quietness those situations create. Finally time for the family!

That said, having no power for 6 days in a row, well, that kind of sucks.

Arthur, you in Florida too? :P
Anyway, I agree. A few days after a storm, the novelty of the beautiful cool and peaceful nights filled with a rarely-seen crystal-clear view of the starry sky is replaced by the incessant pounding of generators drilling into your head, a torture you can’t escape because sleeping in the oppressive heat of a non-air-conditoned world makes open windows a requirement.

That said, heck, if the roof aint leaking — or if you still have a roof — and you and yours are safe, you always count your blessings and have a few beers. On ice.
