Happy New Year!

October 23rd, 2005

Braved the chilly but sunny weather this morning to go out pumpkin picking (or choosing) as the case may be. Picked some pumpkins and braved a zoo of straw animals. Take a look at this croc….

e-commerce and rss

October 12th, 2005

Why don’t more e-commerce sites use RSS? A few have beta feeds, but it doesn’t seem widespread.

More cheese, Gromit?

Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit Two thumbs up. Plenty of humor for kids and adults alike. May contain nuts.

A losing battle

October 5th, 2005

Here’s why we’re not winning the spam wars. This dude is offering a server based in China for a mere $599/mo.

And spam-assassin never flagged this. The Beijing based IP only shows up in a few spam databases.

What I’m Listening To

iPod Nano

September 28th, 2005

Well, I don’t have one, but last weekend I did manage to caress an iPod Nano.

The verdict? Well, it definitely has that “ooooh shiny” aura. I’m not a big iPod user (I have a mini), but I can definitely see why some folks would really, really want one.

Meet the Pack Rats

September 17th, 2005

From Wired News Meet the Apple pack rats

He’s one of the legions of Macintosh and iPod users for whom the elegance of the user interface begins with the bold graphics and sleek texture of the box the new machine comes in. It’s in the smell and the way the box logically reveals each new component just as the user needs it. And, like the famously long-lived Apple Computer products they carry, these aesthetic outer wrappings have a habit of sticking around.

“I can’t imagine throwing them away,” he said. “It’s more than a record of a serial number; it’s a record of a good event that happened in my life.”

“A true Mac geek takes pictures,” Harne said. “The more artsy, the more points.”

Legions of Mac users take pictures. Apple users have a particular fascination with online photo galleries of other users unwrapping the latest company products, often with a smiling model performing the geek striptease one USB cable at a time.

As if I should be pointing fingers…
