YouTube

Come to think of it, during the past week or so I’ve watched more YouTube than regular cable and tv. I can also say that I’m thrilled to be able to choose what I want to see rather than wait for a show or movie to come on. Am I on top of this user generated content trend or what?

I don’t know…TV over the internet has its place, but right now, in most cases, it’s so slow or crappy, it’s not worth the time. I like the fact that I can basically just connect a metal stick to a TV (or even my computer) and pull in shows even in HD from the air.
That’s just me though. And honestly, I love youTube for the viral video clips and long forgotten TV moments such as mentioned here: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/060626

I’m only using it for looking up old video clips.
I’m not a regular TV user (despite working in the broadcasting industry), but I don’t see anything special on YouTube: Clue us in.

I like internet media quite a lot. And I will tell you what, the internet of the future is user generated content and pod/vidcasts. Not to mention RSS Feeds. The emphasis has definately begun to shift. I just hope that there won’t be a million proprietary video clients that will be released. And if so, open source will have an answer. They always do.
No doubt about it, online video is addictive…
