If AI development stopped today

December 2024

Recently, Wharton professor Ethan Mollick noted that if AI development stopped today, we would still need 5-10 years to utilize the advancements we have in hand.

Currently available foundation models, tools, and workflows are incredibly powerful and disruptive. But most companies and teams are still figuring out the basics. As we've seen, AI adoption within organizations will take time and measurable impact — good or not so good — may take even longer.

The kicker? AI development is showing no signs of stopping.

So the challenge is clear: to work to understand what is in front of us, while staying ready for what’s next.

Because AI development is not slowing down — and neither should we.
